The Caractors Transcript is a Testimony that Jesus is the Christ
There are FOUR ways that I see the Caractors Transcript (CT) as being a firm testimony that Jesus Is the Christ.
- First of all, that is what the Caractors Transcript message says! And it repeats that message in several ways which we shall examine on other pages.
- Second, the four targeted populations for the Book of Mormon were to be given the opportunity to again come to God through the Testimony of Jesus, as given in the Book of Mormon. These groups were:
- the Lamanites (rival cousins who ultimately destroyed the Nephite civilization in a final epic battle)
- the Jews who rejected the divinity of Jesus and crucified him (Characters F1-F5)
- the rest of the ‘faithless’ House of Israel, who had lost all knowledge of the coming of Jesus (A22, D10, G48, for example) after they were carried into captivity by the Assyrians in 722 BC
- and the Gentiles (i.e. all non-Israelites: those who were NOT ‘peoples of God’s promise’ — i.e., inheritors of the covenant God made to Abraham.
- Third, ‘Jesus IS the Christ’ is the central theme of the Book of Mormon. Accordingly, it is only natural that the book’s title page would reinforce that message.
- Fourth, many of the characters are written in a literary structure that, in literary-speak, is commonly known to scholars as ‘chiasmus.’ Chiasms may be found throughout the Bible and the Book of Mormon. I believe that the presence of chiasms in the CT is a wonderful confirmation that the characters were divinely inspired.
In the following pages, I will now provide evidence for each of these assertions.
